CASA VIDA NUEVA PARA NIÑOS, MEXICO

ORPHAN CRISIS IN MEXICO

Mexico faces a severe orphan crisis driven by poverty, violence, and family breakdown. Millions of children are orphaned or abandoned due to extreme economic hardship, with many forced into homelessness or overcrowded shelters. Organized crime and cartel violence leave countless children without parents, while substance abuse and neglect contribute to rising numbers of “social orphans” — children with living parents who cannot care for them.

The country’s child welfare system is overwhelmed, lacking the resources to provide adequate care, education, and medical support. Many orphanages rely on private donations to fill the gap. In this challenging landscape, Casa Vida Nueva Para Niños serves as a lifeline, offering children a safe home, healthcare, education, and spiritual guidance to help them build a brighter future.

ABOUT CASA VIDA PARA NIÑOS

Casa Vida Nueva Para Niños, located in Nogales, Sonora, was founded in 2012 as a response to the overwhelming number of homeless and at-risk children in the region. Established through the vision of New Life Church in Tucson, AZ, the home provides a safe and nurturing environment for children who have been abandoned, abused, or rescued from exploitation. Over the years, the orphanage has provided care, education, and spiritual guidance to nearly 100 children, ensuring they receive the love and support needed to build a brighter future.

Serving Orphans Worldwide travels to every orphanage we partner with to ensure needs are legitimate and 100% of funds distributed goes to the livelihood of the children.

PROMINENT ISSUES

Poverty & Economic Instability

Many families in Mexico, especially in border cities like Nogales, struggle to meet basic needs, leading to child abandonment. Parents facing extreme poverty often lack the resources to provide food, healthcare, or education for their children.

Violence & Crime

Drug cartels and organized crime have created dangerous conditions, forcing many children into situations of neglect, abuse, or forced labor. Some children lose their parents to violence, while others are left to fend for themselves.

Family Breakdown & Addiction

Many children at Casa Vida Nueva come from homes affected by substance abuse. Parents struggling with drug or alcohol addiction may neglect or abuse their children, leading to state intervention or abandonment.
